Worker’s Day honours the contributions of workers around the globe. Its roots trace back to the late 19th century during the labour union movement in the United States. Following a major strike in Chicago’s Haymarket Square in 1886 which advocated for an eight-hour workday, the labour movement gained international momentum.

This pivotal event symbolised the relentless fight for fair working conditions and laid the foundation for Worker’s Day, also known as International Workers’ Day or Labour Day. It brings to light the struggles and triumphs of the labour force, highlighting the significance of safe working conditions, fair wages, and economic justice. Celebrating this day fosters unity and showcases appreciation for workers’ efforts worldwide.
