Welcome to the first issue of AfroScenes for 2024! There has been a whirlwind of activities and events to report back on. From observing local and international health days, to our own excellence awards and recognising special partners.
Let’s get into some more.
A key focus for the business this year is servicing our customers with excellence and the only way to do so, is if we are motivated and inspired! I hope this edition of AfroScenes achieves just that, as our commitment is instrumental to building our future.
As a leader in the healthcare sector, we always strive to observe health days which draw attention to a specific health topics of concern to people all over the world or even locally. In this edition we pay attention to cancer, obesity, tuberculosis, pregnancy and bipolar disorder, to name a few. More of this awaits you in “Our Health Matters”.
In the Our Wellness section we focus on mental wellbeing and the various programmes offered by our Wellness Team.
On 8 March we celebrated International Women’s Day, themed #InspireInclusion. You can read more about our tribute to Africa’s women, human rights and how you can help a colleague who has reduced mobility in the Our People section.
Also in the Our People section, we honour one of our own, Muleki Nedzamba, Clerk: Claims Assessor at Polmed. Muleki is the true embodiment of how our people live our values. Be sure to send us your nominations for a colleague who inspires you, and whom you’d like to honour and celebrate.
As the cold weather slowly starts creeping in and we head into autumn – and the flu season takes hold – let’s remember to prioritise your health and wellness. Embrace the autumnal vibes with ideal health essentials from Pharmacy Direct – from immune-boosting vitamins to stay strong, to allergy relief for those sniffles.
Thank you for your contributions. I hope you enjoy this issue and look forward to your feedback to ensure an even better edition next time.
