Mutual respect, a willingness to help and be helped, and the joy of celebrating each other – together, these things form the glue that holds together MedScheme’s Team Ntoks.
A diverse group who admits to being “infamous for being put in the naughty corner”, Team Ntoks have bonded over a mutual love for food, laughter, similar values and enthusiasm for their daily work.
“I think the reason #TeamNtoks is a high-functioning, productive group is because we can have our own opinions and be understood without judgment and egos getting in the way,” says Nerishnee Soobramoney, Admin Support Agent: Healthcare Provider Services.
The team members are willing to jump in and help each other when needed, and mutual respect within their ranks means no one is hesitant to ask for help.
A standard of care
Team Ntoks truly cares about each other. “We all contribute to a birthday club and buy a cake and gift voucher to make each other feel happy and adored on our birthday,” Nerishnee says.
A simple “good morning”, “thank you”, or acknowledgement of a job well done creates a happy work environment and makes everyone feel safe to take considered risks, resolve problems easily, and be creative. All of this leads to achieving their objectives and allowing for growth in the workplace.
And their strength lies in their diverse knowledge and attributes.
“We have individuals who have specific characteristics that make the team special, like Genevieve, who is great at organising and being motherly; Sashnee and Siphokazi who are strong, bold women not afraid of been heard; our new recruit Zokhanyo, who has amazing skin and likes to think she’s English (aka Miranda); Amisha, who keeps us in stiches with her jovial personality; Priscilla, Mohammed and Chandika, who have a number of years of work expertise combined; “dynamite comes in small packages”, which describes Nosipho; Lucretia, our go-to for any legal matters; Rebecca and Marlini, who are always a good sport for anything; our Team Leader, Ntokozo, who embodies kindness and compassion; and me, Nerishnee, who likes to think I’m an influencer because I’m the group’s social media fundi.”
