Teams from Medscheme’s branches gathered at the Alpine Health Resort in the Drakensberg for an inspiring – and empowering – Team Leadership Conference.
The teambuilding session, held in KwaZulu-Natal at Alpine Heath in July 2025, was a resounding success for the Branch Network team. Bringing together attendees from the Free state, Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, and Polokwane. Each region showcased its own unique character, sharing insights about member demographics, language diversity, and cultural nuances.
Led by Lubaina Ismail, Senior Manager of the Branch Network team, the conference highlighted the team’s wins and challenges. GMHenk Badenhorst joined in the three-daystrat session. Leaders engaged in meaningful discussions around how the decisions and changes we make today directly shape the way we work tomorrow. Themed “Align / Adapt / Advance”, the sessions encouraged reflection, collaboration, and a renewed sense of purpose.
The strategic themes of the event included:
Scheme alignment
Locus of control, influence vs. concern
Future-focused change
But it wasn’t all strategy and structure – there was plenty of fun and laughter too! The team took part in a vibrant and hotly contested teambuilding experience featuring:
Minute to Win It
Mini Olympics
Trivia
Karaoke
And lots of shared laughs!
What truly stood out is that while the team celebrated its diversity, it also took pride in its alignment: whether a member has a newborn registration query in Kathu or Pietermaritzburg, they receive the same consistent standard of service. Importantly, the team is also able to assist members in their preferred language – be it isiZulu, Setswana, Afrikaans, or English – ensuring that every interaction is both personal and accessible.
The teambuilding activities helped strengthen bonds, build synergies, and reminded us of the power of teamwork and connection.
