Pack it up

Summer holidays are the perfect time to escape your routine, embrace adventure and explore thrilling new destinations. We’ve got a few packing tips to make sure your trip is as comfortable as possible.

When packing for a trip, a few essentials will ensure a seamless journey, but these are easy to overlook.

Expect the unexpected

  • Duct tape to fix ripped luggage or unexpected wear-and-tear.
  • Portable power bank to charge devices on the go.
  • Reusable water bottle with a filter to stay hydrated and safe.
  • Mini first-aid kit containing bandages, medicines and ointments to save the day.
  • A pashmina or scarf to keep warm, cover up or use as a makeshift pillow.

Save some space

  • Roll your clothes instead of folding to save space and minimise wrinkles.
  • Use packing cubes or vacuum-seal bags to maximise luggage capacity.
  • Pack heavier items such as shoes at the bottom and fit small items inside your shoes
  • Pack dual-purpose clothing (such as reversible jackets) to reduce bulk.

In the air

In your hand luggage, be sure to pack your passport, toothbrush, basic toiletries (under 100ml each), and spare clothes in case your checked luggage is delayed.

Noise-cancelling headphones, a neck pillow (or pashmina), snacks, and an e-reader go a long way toward comfort.

On the road

Road trips call for practical essentials such as a cooler bag with beverages and snacks, a physical map as a backup to GPS, hand sanitiser and entertainment (offline playlists or games) for the kids.

Remember to pack a small emergency kit, including jumper cables and a torch.

Going public

To make a bus or train journey more comfortable, remember a neck pillow and light blanket, books to pass the time, a refillable water bottle and snacks – and noise-cancelling headphones and eye mask to nap on the go.

With these tips, you’ll be more organised, comfortable and prepared for any holiday adventure. Safe travels!
