A proud moment for bursary students
The four recipients of AfroCentric’s inaugural bursary programme graduated this year – three at University of Pretoria (MBChB) and one at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (MBChB). Two passed with distinction/cum laude.
A huge congratulations to our bursary students who excelled in their final exams. The bursary programme began in 2016 with four medical students and in 2022, the Group added two pharmacy students.
The medical students are currently pursuing their internships at the following institutions:
- Tovhowani Mulovhedzi – Tambo Memorial Hospital (Paediatrics)
- Risuna Rivombo – Tambo Memorial Hospital (Internal Medicine)
- Maggie Ramela – Pietersburg/Mankweng Hospital (Obstetrics and Gynaecology)
- Masana Baloyi – Letaba Hospital (Internal Medicine)
The Bpharm students are currently in their third year at North-West University.
- Thato Phahlane – Benoni
- Reratilwe Dikgale – Alberton
Six University of Pretoria (MBChB) and 10 North-West University students (Nursing) are the new intakes for 2023.
In October this year, our Chairperson, Dr. Anna Mokgokong, hosted a heartfelt bursary lunch at the Protea Hotel Country Club. It was a day filled with inspiration, celebration and pivotal moments as we recognised the incredible journey of our current 2023 bursary recipients and celebrated the wins of the 2022 scholars who are nearing their graduations. Our Bursary Programme has blossomed to encompass a diverse group of aspiring healthcare professionals. To all our scholars, know that this journey may have its challenges, but your resilience will guide you. You are the future of healthcare in South Africa, shaping the wellbeing of generations to come.
