Namibia, celebrating 34 years of Independence
In 1990 Namibia successfully gained independence from South Africa through a combination of diplomatic efforts, negotiations, and sustained international pressure on the apartheid regime.
The pivotal moment came with the country’s first democratic elections in 1989. This historic event marked the beginning of a new era for Namibia, as it officially declared independence on March 21, 1990, heralding a wave of optimism and national pride.
Renowned for its diverse natural landscapes, Namibia beckons us to revel in the beauty of its terrain. Nestled within its borders lies the Namib, recognised as the world’s oldest hot desert, with an estimated age surpassing 55 million years.
