Reflecting on growth and gratitude

Unity, collaboration and unwavering support are the ties that bind Medscheme’s Provider Relations team, whose culture of empowerment and accountability have helped to make AfroCentric not just a workplace, but a place our employees can proudly call home.

Elmarie Smith, Provider Relationship Manager: Special Programs, who has been with the company for 17 years, takes a moment to celebrate her remarkable team, who manages relationships with hospital groups.

In saying farewell after taking up a new role in the provider management space, Elmarie says she is filled with gratitude for the incredible years spent alongside each of her team members.

“Together, we have woven a tapestry of dedication, resilience and camaraderie, forming bonds that transcend the professional realm and have truly made us a family.
“I’ve coordinated 13 hospital year-ends and put processes in place to manage disciplines. I’ve lived through changes in the company, in management, in team members and even buildings. I’ve loved this company and every bit of my job for 17 years. But what I am proudest of is this team, the A-Team, that I work with,” Elmarie says.

She says the team exemplifies the exceptional characteristics of unity, collaboration, and unwavering support. Through both triumphs and challenges, they have stood shoulder to shoulder, creating a culture of empowerment and accountability that has propelled them to remarkable achievements.

“It is this very culture that has made our company not just a workplace, but a place we are proud to call home,” she says

Elmarie is especially grateful for the leadership of the management team, whose visionary guidance and celebration of individual talents fostered an environment where each team member felt valued and inspired to contribute their best – an environment where people are challenged, empowered and encouraged; where open communication is accepted, positive attitudes and trust are the norm and respect is earned.

“As I bid farewell to the hospital team, I would like to say, I am honoured to have been part of such an extraordinary team (past and present) where knowledge and skills were shared willingly so that I could learn from each of you. I am confident that the legacy we leave behind will continue to shine brightly in the years to come. With heartfelt appreciation to the team who makes every day and every bit of effort worth it: Henk, Verona, Lana and Nina.”
