A vocal advocate for action in the fight against HIV\/Aids, and a firm believer that our children are our nation\u2019s greatest treasures, in his 67 years of selfless public service Nelson Mandela shone a light on controversial and often difficult truths in the hopes of bettering the future for all. <\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

To honour Nelson Mandela International Day, the Healthcare Forensics team held a number of fundraisers in the office \u2013 from a hot chocolate, muffins and scones day to a soup and bun day \u2013 to ultimately raise R5,000, which they added to the R15\u202f000 they won in the Ignite Awards.<\/p>

After a whirlwind shopping spree, it was time to home hop and pay it forward to Legacy Children\u2019s Home, Frederic Place Old Age Home and Footprint Hospice in Johannesburg and surrounds.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The needs at these facilities are vast, so the team visited each home to talk to staff about where they could be of the most use. \u201cWe listened, took note of specific things said to us and shopped with excitement and pleasure, knowing we could make that burden a little lighter. From having washing machines and JoJo tanks delivered, to the fun and most humbling part \u2013 handing more goodies over on Mandela Day \u2013 it was truly a blessing to know we made a difference in the lives of others!\u201d said Charlene Kelly, Manager: Governance and Operations, Healthcare Forensics.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Frederic Place<\/strong>\u200b was founded in 1978 in Coronationville and now accommodates 85 men and women, aged 60 years and older, who need a safe home and loving care.<\/p>

Legacy Children\u2019s Home<\/strong> is operated as part of the Women Empowerment Platform and provides a safe home for neglected and abused children, ensuring they can flourish in an environment where their needs are met.<\/p>

The Footprint Hospice<\/strong>, formerly Soweto Retired Professionals Society (SRPS), was founded in 1986 by retired nurses from the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital. The staff there tends to the healthcare needs of individuals who often have no one else to help them in their time of need, with the main focus being patients with HIV\/Aids or cancer.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
