Tell us a bit about her background<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Ncumisa is an Information Technology Graduate specialising in business analysis. She holds a post-graduate Diploma in Management Practices from the UCT Graduate School of Business. She is a DAMA certified Data Management professional. Her career in data analytics spans over 11 years in various industries, including retail, banking and healthcare. <\/p>\n\n\n\n What is Ncumisa\u2019s philosophy on life?<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Ncumisa believes, \u201cWe rise by lifting others.” This philosophy is derived from the original quote by Robert Ingersoll. She believes that when you help others, your life starts to have meaning and purpose, and society becomes a better place for all to live in. <\/p>\n\n\n\n What special achievements can you mention?<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Through her professional work and initiatives, Ncumisa was named by the Mail & Guardian<\/a> as one of 200 Young South Africans championing South Africa\u2019s future. She was a finalist in the Dalebrook Media\u2019s Young Data Analytics Professional of the year 2022 (under 35). She\u2019s been selected as a 2023 TechWomen Emerging Leader, and will participate in a five-week mentorship and exchange programme in the US, an initiative of the US Department of State\u2019s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA,) managed by the Institute of International Education (IIE). As a TechWomen Emerging Leader, Ncumisa will be representing South Africa and join peers from the rest of Africa, South and Central Asia, and the Middle East who form a strong network of women committed to advancing their careers and pursuing their dreams while paving the way for those who follow. Ncumisa has transformed the careers of over 50 young data professionals through her data talent development initiatives and mentorship. She is a recognised speaker and thought leader on data and analytics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n What does she do outside of work?<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Outside of her work role, she is the founder of an organisation called Data Consortium www.data-consortium.com<\/a> and the podcast Data talk Podcast with Ncumisa<\/a>, which play a part in equipping emerging and aspiring data professionals with knowledge, tools and skills needed to build successful data careers. Through this organisation, she has lifted barriers to entry into data and analytics careers and increased the representation of women and girls in data analytics. In spring 2022, Data Consortium on-boarded 20 women into a women-in-data mentorship programme, where they were mentored by men and women at C-suite and executive level. Twelve of these women unlocked new job opportunities in leadership and specialisation. In 2023, they have secured and onboarded learners in financial need into a scholarship with DataCamp, where they access Data Education and certification for free.
