Developing future pharmacists
To mark World Pharmacy Day, which falls in September, we spoke to Reratilwe Dikgale, one of the Bachelor of Pharmacy students sponsored by AfroCentric.

Where are you studying to become a pharmacist?
I’m in my third year at North-West University.
What inspired you to choose to study in this field?
I have always wanted to work in the healthcare sector. All the doors eventually opened for me to study pharmacy.
What are your career aspirations?
I would like to work in manufacturing, behind the scenes, to create substances that will improve the health of patients.
What, in your opinion, makes pharmacy such a vital discipline in SA?
As custodians of medicine, I believe the pharmacy sector has the potential to grow further and continue to develop helpful agents to improve health outcomes. A pharmacist does not just stand behind a counter but rather makes sure that the treatment is correct and appropriate.
