Our data centre has moved!
The AfroCentric and Sanlam IT teams have successfully relocated our two data centres from Johannesburg to Cape Town. This is a significant achievement that highlights the strength in our partnership with Sanlam.
The relocation gives AfroCentric the opportunity to leverage off world-class data centres that have ample power capacity, secondary power sources and optimal cooling facilities. These data centres have state-of-the-art monitoring solutions, 24/7 support, and the capacity for additional high-availability solutions where needed.
Overcoming challenges
Tackling a project of this size and complexity was not without challenges, but the teams addressed these obstacles through effective communication and collaboration with various stakeholders, ensuring that everyone was aligned and informed throughout the process.
The essential lessons gained from relocating the Louwlardia data centre to Cape Town were invaluable in the transition of the Roodepoort data centre to Bellville, resulting in a move that was more streamlined and manageable, reflecting our IT team’s growth and adaptability.
